Sculpt a Smoother, More
Graceful Neckline

A neck lift restores a smoother, more defined neck and jawline by addressing concerns that develop with aging and genetics. It targets loose skin, excess fat, and weakened neck muscles that create banding, jowls, or a “turkey neck” appearance. Dr. Mostovych approaches the neck as part of the overall face, carefully refining contours to create harmony. The goal is never an over-tightened look, but a natural, refreshed profile that still looks like you, just more rested.

Neck Lift Treats:

  • Loose, sagging skin along the neck that creates a heavy or aged appearance
  • Vertical neck bands caused by the weakening of the underlying muscles
  • Jowling and a loss of jawline definition in the lower face
  • Excess fat beneath the chin that contributes to a double chin or fullness
  • Wrinkling and creasing of the neck related to aging and sun damage

When Neck Liposuction Alone Isn’t Enough

Neck liposuction can be effective for removing isolated pockets of fat, but it has clear limitations. When skin laxity, muscle banding, or advanced aging are present, fat removal alone may actually worsen loose skin. In these cases, a neck lift tightens underlying muscles and removes excess skin to restore elegant contours. While it is more invasive than liposuction, the tradeoff is a far more refined outcome that simply cannot be achieved with liposuction alone.

Benefits of a Neck Lift:

  • Creates a more defined neck and jawline when fat removal is insufficient
  • Corrects loose skin, muscle banding, and jowling for a more youthful profile
  • Restores a clean, sharp, and elegant angle between your chin and neck
  • Enhances overall facial harmony without an over-tightened or “done” appearance
  • Can be thoughtfully combined with other facial procedures for refined rejuvenation

What to Expect From a Neck Lift

Consultation

Dr. Mostovych takes time to truly understand what’s bothering you and what kind of change you’re hoping to see. She carefully examines your neck and jawline, assessing skin quality, fat distribution, muscle tone, and how your neck blends with your face. Using this evaluation, she explains which concerns can be improved, which approach makes the most sense, and why. You’ll then review realistic outcomes, recovery expectations, and your personalized options.

Procedure

On the day of surgery, you’re carefully placed under general anesthesia or deep IV sedation. Dr. Mostovych makes discreet incisions hidden behind the ears and, when needed, a small incision beneath the chin. Through these points, she removes excess fat, tightens the platysma muscles with meticulous suturing, and repositions underlying structures to restore youthful contours.

Once the foundation is refined, excess skin is gently redraped and trimmed without tension to preserve a graceful, natural look. The incisions are carefully closed with fine sutures, and a light dressing is applied to support healing. If necessary, small drains are placed temporarily. The procedure typically takes about 2 to 3 hours to complete.

Recovery

After your neck lift, you can expect swelling, bruising, and a feeling of tightness through the neck and jawline for 1 to 2 weeks. You must wear a supportive garment as instructed, keep your head elevated, and avoid turning or bending your neck to protect the incisions. Most patients feel comfortable managing soreness with prescribed or over-the-counter medications.

You can return to desk work in 7 to 10 days, while more strenuous activity and exercise should be avoided for 3 to 4 weeks. As swelling subsides, you’ll notice improved definition within the first few weeks. While early results are visible quickly, your final, refined outcome continues to settle over the next 3 to 6 months, revealing a smoother, more elegant neck contour.

Neck Lift FAQs

Will a Neck Lift Make Me Look Tight or Overdone?

Not when performed thoughtfully. Dr. Mostovych’s approach focuses on restoring youthful structure, not pulling skin aggressively. By tightening the underlying muscles and redraping skin without tension, the neck looks smoother and more defined while still moving naturally. The goal is for people to notice that you look refreshed, not that you’ve had surgery.

Are Neck Lift Scars Visible?

Incisions are placed with extreme care, typically hidden behind the ears and sometimes beneath the chin. As healing progresses, scars usually fade and become difficult to detect. Dr. Mostovych also provides detailed scar-care guidance to help optimize healing.

How Long Do Neck Lift Results Last?

Neck lift results are long-lasting. While natural aging continues, the structural improvements achieved during surgery don’t disappear. Many patients enjoy their results for a decade or longer, particularly when maintaining a healthy lifestyle and good skincare habits.
